Saturday night loser club

Has anyone else heard this term before? I am sitting here at my computer typing an ethics paper due next week and I recall hearing this phrase. It is expected by both friends and family that we find someone that we can grow old with and the pressure to "get out there" and look is a top priority. In our culture today it is understood that it takes multiple experiences in order to find this person. Symbolic interactionism is the only way we will understand our role in the quest to be happy. Finding love is not an agreement, we need to put ourselves in the roles that we believe will attract that significant other. For those that have met the standard the stage has changed but the roles remain. Through time botched performances become common but are corrected through other symbols culture has embedded in us. The other two sociological paradigms are the results of the show we put on.

  1. I've never heard this term before...i find this very interesting because yes your friends and family want to see you find someone who makes you happy, and seems like the mr. prince charming or a angel! I think by you finding this person who makes you feel all types of good emotions inside and someone whos willing to work things out with you instead of give up or abuse you..This would benefit society because then you would know the relationship would be based on stability, long-term and monogmous relationship. So this would be a good thing for structural functionism.. In terms of symbolic interactionism this would be great because two people would have love for each other because of common things they are interested in. I was looking at this article that came up when i was reading this blog and it talked about how these two ladies had married after 60 years of being together. This shows that love is about obstacles and how much your willing to fight for the one you love. It also showed that sometimes marriage isn't a way you have to show your love to someone, you can show it other ways and still love the person as if you were married. In class we talked about why do people marry and a lot of people brought up because we have found things in someone else that draws us to them and makes our emotions express that.
